Why Is Keyword Research Important?

Keyword research is a pivotal part of developing an SEO strategy; developing a keyword list enables you to understand your target audience and what google keywords they use. In addition, being equipped with a keyword list drives the type of content you should develop to build your website's ranking on the search engine results page (SERP).


What Types Of Keywords Are There For SEO?

There are three main types of keywords;

  • seed keywords

  • short-tail keywords and;

  • longtail keywords.

When you search keyword list, google keywords, or keyword generator, you are looking for either of the three keyword types listed above to build a relevant and worthwhile traffic flow to your website.



Seed Keywords:

SEED keywords are the exact word or words that best describe your business or its products and services. For example, "SEO" or "search engine optimization" is a seed keyword. SEED keywords have a higher monthly search volume on search engines but are extremely difficult to rank on the search engine results page (SERP).


Short Tail Keywords:

Short tail keywords are the exact words that best describe your business or its products and services. For example, "SEO Service" or "search engine optimization Service" is a short tail keyword. Short tail keywords have a slightly lower monthly search volume on search engines but are somewhat easier to rank on the search engine results page (SERP).


Longtail Keywords:

Longtail keywords are phrases that best describe your business or its products and services. For example, "affordable SEO Service in London " or "affordable search engine optimization Service service in London" is a longtail keyword. Longtail keywords have lower monthly search volumes on search engines but are easier to rank on the search engine results page (SERP).
